Wired for Speed - the new Nike Mercurial Vapor V football boot is the follow up to the incredibly successful and much loved Mercurial Vapor IV boot.
The Nike Mercurial Vapor V is the first football boot to incorporate Flywire technology, designed to make a football boot stronger without sacrificing weight. The essence of Flywire is to utilise high-strength threads that act like cables on a suspension bridge, which give lots of support precisely where it's needed. What happens with the Vapor V is a great case of less is more - Flywire reduces the amount of material required for the upper to the bare minimum without compromising on durability or integrity and support, thus making for an ultra lightweight boot. The Flywire section can be found on the instep of the Mercurial Vapor V football boot.
Thanks to testing and feedback from some of the top players in the world, there are significant developments in this Vapor V football boot from the previous edition. Players demanded more control and feel of the ball at speed, and this has resulted in Nike creating a "speed touch area" at the front of the boot (roughly wear the swoosh sits) designed to carry more grip and ball feel.
The Nike Mercurial Vapor V boot is engineered with this material as it allows greater moulding to the shape of the player's foot. The lace cover remains also, using a stretchy synthetic material to create a very clean striking area. The Vapor V continues with a Teijin synthetic upper which is lighter and thinner than the Mercurial Vapor 4 football boot.
The new Nike Mercurial Vapor 5 football boot in this striking Vibrant Yellow/Black/Midwest Gold is sure to stand out from the rest. Available in firm and soft ground sole plates, both offer excellent traction and grip which is essential to beating defenders to the ball and getting the most from acceleration.
